All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, NAS)
All Scripture = This literally means “all the writings” (the entire Bible).
Inspired by God = The Holy Spirit “moved” or “guided” the writers of the Bible (2 Pet. 1:21; John 16:13).
Profitable, Adequate, Equipped = The Bible is the only source one can study and come to know the truth about God and how to be in a right relationship with Him. In fact, it alone is sufficient to equip us for all our spiritual needs.
It is an unfortunate fact that many religious groups have shifted their focus to entertainment and social activities rather than seriously studying God’s Word. It might be fun but it won’t help us to develop a relationship with God. Many people become unsatisfied with religion but do not realize what the real problem is. We come to God looking for fulfillment and hope but modern religion leaves us starved and weak. We will remain that way until we are constantly eating the “bread of life” (John 6:35).
I teach Bible classes and preach for churches, but the teachers in the Bible did not just teach in their assemblies. They also studied with people “from house to house” (Acts 5:42; 20:20). So, I organize and lead group studies around the community on different books of the Bible and topics. I also study with people one on one. I have taught the Bible in several states as well as in South America and Europe.
